Chapter Philanthropy
KKG Beta Omicron has a three-tiered philanthropy program: Kappas helping the community, Kappas Helping Kappas, and Reading Is Fundamental. Each semester, we will have projects that benefit all three tiers. We are always looking for new ways to volunteer locally and support new projects!
Kappas Helping the Community
Each chapter supports causes that are closest to the needs in their own community. As a chapter, we strive to give back and support causes right here in the city of New Orleans.
The Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation
The Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the Fraternity. The Foundation accepts financial donations from Kappas, invests the funds, and uses the dividends to serve Kappa in four areas—confidential aid, scholarships, our two museums, and education and training. Kappa Kollection is our signature fall event we have each year that benefits the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation as well as a local organization in New Orleans. Kappa Kollection is a boutique that we put together inside the Kappa house in which local merchants, as well as some of our own artists, are able to sell their goods and a portion of their sells are donated to the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation.
Reading Is Fundamental
RIF’s mission is to motivate young children to read by working with them, their parents, and community members to make reading a fun and beneficial part of everyday life. RIF's highest priority is reaching underserved children from birth to age 8. RIF is the largest children’s literacy nonprofit in the United States. Chapters serve RIF through Reading is Key events, which are focused on service as opposed to raising funds. Our Reading Is Key event is a fall festival during which members read to children and work with them on other reading focused activities. All children also leave the festival with a book donated from Kappa.
